Prince Salman Center for Disability Research held a panel discussion titled "Using genetic treatment to prevent loss of eyesight." The panel was attended by Professor Tony Moore and Professor Robin Ali from the UCL institute.
The panel was part of the PSCDR's ongoing plan to strengthen international cooperation and solidify the ties between the Center and other pioneering international institutions, such as Harvard University, Landmark College, and the ICI Institute.
The panel discussion was hosted by Dr. Sultan Al-Sedairy, Interim Managing Director of PSCDR, and Dr. Heidi Alaskary, Executive Director of the Research Department at PSCDR. At the start of the discussion, Dr. Al-Sediary welcomed the attendees, and expressed his gratitude for Prof. Moore's and Prof's Ali's visit. Dr. Al-Sedairy then gave a brief presentation on the center's history and a summary of the most important research projects that were undertaken by PSCDR.
During the panel discussion, the ongoing joint research between the Center, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, and Prof. Moore's team was discussed. This research will hopefully lead to the discovery of genetic anomalies that cause chronic vision impairment, and farther lead to utilizing genetic treatments to prevent such ailments.
