What is Dyslexia?: Biological, Cognitive and Behavioral Factors

This presentation is designed for a broad audience of special and regular educators. This will provide an update on the nature, diagnosis and treatment of dyslexia. Dyslexia will be defined formally and then key biological (genetic and neurological), cognitive (phonological processing) and behavioral (diagnostic and remedial) findings will be reviewed.  While dyslexia in English is the main focus, cross-linguistic factors will be addressed.  Future directions for research and practice will be suggested.

Charles W. Haynes, Ed.D, CCC-SLP
