Core Elements of a Vocational Program

The presentation will highlight the rationale and the structure as well as some of the strategies that have worked in designing and implementing a rehabilitation program. Without an expectation of employment full inclusion in the community is limited.  The reasons for developing a Vocational Program and the benefits to the individual, family and community at large must be considered. In initiating a Vocational Program the focus is on the individual and the labor market needs (the employer). The services provided include a person centered assessment, specific training (on site or in a structured skill based training setting), job placement, job accommodations and ongoing supports.  The focus is on the matching of individual preferences, skills and interests to employer needs.
