An alarming number of new cases of cognitive and learning impairments have put a dent in our not so accommodating society and community. Inclusion of people with disabilities is still a big challenge in our society. Computer access and the advent of Assistive Technology (AT) has come close to presenting solutions to solving a majority of their challenges. When pursued properly, they offer an opportunity to integrate individuals with disabilities within mainstream society and lead undiminished, fulfilling lifestyles. In this presentation, a number of software applications and systems will be demonstrated to showcase viability of these applications, and how they could be applied to empower people with special needs and make them part of mainstream living.
