This five-day intensive workshop is designed to introduce participants with little or no background in linguistics or signed languages to some of the basic concepts needed to understand the scientific study of these natural languages of the world’s deaf communities. The workshop will consist of lectures and discussions of readings. Participants will also work on small group projects, as well as brief individual presentations to be assigned by the instructor.
